PENNSYLVANIA ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL & GRAVEL CYCLING

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) works to expand and connect trail networks that support recreation, conservation, and vibrant outdoor communities. Recognizing the rapid growth of gravel cycling, PEC also champions mixed-surface riding through research, advocacy, route development assistance, and events that highlight the connection between outdoor recreation, stewardship, and local economies, helping create more opportunities for cyclists to explore Pennsylvania's public lands and trail systems.

ROUTE DEVELOPMENT

From providing funding assistance through the Cycling Activation Mini Grant Program to providing local expertise and route development technical assistance, PEC helps to advance curated gravel route networks across the state of Pennsylvania.

GRAVEL REPORTS

Browse the reports to learn about gravel riding trends and PEC’s recommendations for sustainably growing gravel in Pennsylvania. PEC is also currently working on a survey to better understand the economic impact of gravel events across the state.

GRAVEL SUMMIT

PEC gathers route developers, event promoters, businesses, tourism agencies, land managers, riders, and others interested in the PA gravel scene together every other year for a two-day conference featuring presentations, discussions, and rides.
